-
The Eye – a site-specific sculpture in the shape of a human eyeball (scale 20:1, height = 265 cm), made of white concrete with a light system embedded in the pavement. The sculpture displays a colour and temperature scale.
-
The Town Thermometer – lighting system at the Gunpowder Magazine (Ljungskär Island) with RGB light controls, IoT integration, and Environmental Real-Time Data. In collaboration with the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI).
Cooperation: Karlskrona Municipality
Art Committee Leader: Torun Ekstrand
Context:
The revitalisation of the Pottholmen area focuses on the promenade as a connector between the new developments and the World Heritage City of Karlskrona.
The plan was to transform the promenade into a walking zone where visitors could observe the temperature of the archipelago's waters, displayed as a color scale on The Town Thermometer.
The project offered an opportunity to introduce a part of the weather forecast through architecture and landscape design to the local community.
This project is dedicated to Anders Celsius, who proposed the Celsius temperature scale in 1742.
The Gunpowder Magazine, where part of the project would be located, dates back to the same era.
